The worst thing to get in the way of your weight loss or healthy progress is a night out at a restaurant. One night can completely throw your progress so plan to be strategic when you go out.
Look ahead at the menu when you're not hungry. Best decisions are always made when you're not hungry. Look for nutrition facts available and use those to help guide your decision. If you can't find nutrition facts or didn't get to look at the menu before you went out, find something to order with healthier preparations. Choose lean meats, vegetables that are roasted or baked. Ask for sauces on the side so you can control how much is actually on your food. Skip the bread or appetizer and instead drink some water while you wait for your food to be served. If the portion you are served is huge then immediately ask for a box to put half of the food in so you don't eat more than you should. It's easy to say you're going to save half and mindlessly keep eating and before you know it you've downed the entire plate of food.
