Statistics say that the majority of people that made new goals for the New Year have already given up on pursuing them. Everyone that quits has different reasons and usually they're just excuses. So what's the secret to staying motivated? What are those people who are still working towards their goal doing differently? Here's my tips for keeping your momentum moving forward. 1. Have a goal you're passionate about. If you aren't passionate about something, you'll allow life to get in your way. You'll allow the smallest of reasons to not work towards your goal get in your way. 2. Write a plan. Not being able to see how you're going to get to your end goal can make you feel lost and discouraged. If you're going somewhere you've never been do you go there without first looking up how to get there and either taking GPS or written directions with you? Same thing goes in life. Make a step-by-step list of how you'll reach your goal. 3. Make sure money is not your motivator. Having money motivate you will not only prove frustrating but will also leave you frustrated instead of satisfied at the end of your pursuit. When I started Fit for Purpose, my motivation was helping others be healthy. When I started nursing, my motivations was helping sick people be well. Money can certainly be down the list of motivators but it shouldn't be your top moitvator. 4. Take care of yourself. You can get burnt out, discouraged and stressed out if you're not careful to take care of yourself. This means eating healthy foods, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly and doing things like meditation, prayer or taking a few hours for yourself to get your nails or hair done. If you do those four things I listed above, I bet you'll become one of those people still pursuing your New Years goals.
