There are few things more discouraging in life than failing. So let's go over a few common reasons that you've experienced failure.
1. You set an unrealistic goal. Bravo for being aggressive but when you set an unrealistic goal you set yourself up for discouragement. Next time really consider what is a realistic goal so you can celebrate a victory. Reaching your "end goal" may take quite a few smaller goals. 2. You quit. You will likely have unexpected obstacles or unplanned for events that make it hard to work towards a goal. If you allow these obstacles and events to permanently derail your progress towards your goal and just stop pursuing your goal altogether, you've failed. But if you take these obstacles and events that make it harder for you to get to your goal and work through them you'll be well on your way to reaching that goal! Don't give up! Don't quit! 3. You picked a goal you're not passionate about. There are few things that will leave you depressed and unmotivated like pursuing a goal that you aren't passionate about. You'll find yourself pushing so hard to make an inch of progress towards a goal that you don't really care if you reach. It'll be hard to get out of bed. You'll have a hard time keeping your mood up and feel like you're running uphill against the wind. This is insane! STOP what you're doing and pursue something that makes you excited to get out of bed! Not every part of reaching your "end goal" will make you excited but knowing that the hard things you're doing now will help you purse something you're REALLY excited about will keep you going. 4. You're not managing your time. Maybe you picked a realistic goal that you're passionate about and you're persevering through the hard stuff but you find yourself losing traction. It's probably because you're not investing your time in the right ways. I encourage you to evaluate what activities are most effective at helping you reach your goals. Then take your time to plan out your week with specific time dedicated throughout your week to things that help you reach your goals. 5. You picked the right goal for the wrong season. It's also possible that you picked a goal you're passionate about however it may not be the right time for you to pursue that goal. Let's not forget the most important things in life are people. Maybe you have little people that you're caring for and this has to be your priority. Or some of you are probably in the season of life that is taking care of your aging parents. Sometimes these seasons are so intensely full of caring for those people that you have little time to pursue your goals, This season of life is likely short so keep your goals in front of you and start pursuing them when you're able. Be gracious to yourself. Keep pursuing education during your busy season that will equip you for when you're ready to start working towards your goal again. Podcasts, books and market research are just a few things you can do even when you're not in a season of life that allows you to pursue your goal. And by the way- this doesn't mean you're failing but you probably feel like you are. Keeping the top priorities (people) ahead of your goal is actually succeeding. Be patient and get ready while you wait.
